4J Real Estate is proud to honor all veterans today. Your undeniable valor is a testament to why we are able to stand proudly as Americans. Because we cannot live in the land of free, without it also being the home of the brave.
Veterans Day is celebrated every year on November 11, commemorating the end of World War I and the armistice reached between the Allied Forces and Germany on the eleventh hour, of the eleventh day, of the eleventh month. What was originally called Armistice Day was later changed by Congress to Veterans Day in 1954, to honor American veterans of all wars.
While this day provides images of patriotism and Americana, the outlook for many veterans is not so warm. The harsh reality of war and conflict brings cases of PTSD, among others. The Patriotic Service Dog Foundation is a non-profit that provides highly-trained service dogs to veterans in need, at no cost. Each day, 22 American veterans take their own lives after struggling with PTSD and Traumatic Brain Injury. These conditions can lead to stress, anxiety, depression, sleeplessness, anger, and isolation. The feelings are treatable, but many veterans suffer in silence. The Patriotic Service Dog Foundation’s goal is to reduce that statistic from 22 to Zero, with the help of dogs helping returning veterans become more independent, self-confident, and adapting to life outside the military. Show your support by sponsoring the training of new service dogs.
You can also show your support for young military families by donating to Turkeys for Troops. The program, through the USO of Metropolitan Washington-Baltimore, provides holiday food baskets for active-duty junior-enlisted (E-6 and below) military families in need. Give “Thanks” this holiday season and support our local heroes.
From all of us at the 4JRE family, we thank you for your service.
